I spent two days with the travel blogger Schönwild in wonderful Meran to visit the unique Hotel Adria. In the couchette compartment of the Nightjet, we traveled from Hamburg to Innsbruck. A really exciting night and a great experience. A great alternative for all those who want to or have to do without a flight. Then we continued with the normal train with a short stopover in Sexten to Meran in South Tyrol. Also an impressive ride, where you can pass the time very well by looking at the surroundings.
Adria, the cult hotel in Meran
The spa town of Meran is located in the heart of South Tyrol and enchants with a mild climate all year round. Palm trees, cypresses, grapevines and olive trees thrive everywhere. But Meran has more to offer than good weather and beautiful plants. Culture is very important here! Among other things, the Kurhaus in Meran is a true masterpiece of Art Nouveau. In general, Art Nouveau can be found everywhere, also in the Hotel Adria, which is located in the middle of Merano’s villa district Obermais. The Art Nouveau jewel was only renovated in April 2019 and enchants with a lot of history and tradition.
The Hotel Adria is located just under a kilometer from the center of Merano. So you can safely leave your car in the hotel’s own parking lot. Trauttmansdorff Castle, where Empress Sissi once resided, can also be reached on foot in just under 30 minutes. Speaking of Sissi!
I stayed at the Hotel Adria in the so-called Sissi Suite. The entire room was furnished in the style of the empress. With a separate bedroom and living room, balcony and walk-in closet, you could really get into raptures!
