In the best of company: a cold brew coffee alongside a classic espresso and a latte macchiato

These coffee specialties are real classics (and also taste great cold brew)

1. Espresso

Espresso must for me hot and slightly sweet taste good and in any case it should have a good crema. Ideally used for an espresso a darker roast with a high proportion of Arabica beans, as the acids are released from the coffee faster than average due to the way it is prepared. Otherwise it can taste sour very quickly.

With the JURA Z10 you get the right beans a nice espresso variety presents. You can use it to prepare a classic espresso, an espresso doppio, or an espresso macchiato. Especially on hot days, I like to serve a cold brew espresso – preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

2. Cappuccino

For me, a cappuccino is just a typical drink that I like to order on the go. Especially when I’m not sure whether I’m going to get really good coffee, I’d rather have a cappuccino than a café crema. There are a few things that can go wrong when preparing a cappuccino.

milk combined with a small amount of espresso characterize the cappuccino. Basically, it consists of two parts milk (one heated, one frothed) and one part espresso. The ratio is crucialto get a tasty cappuccino.

At home, a cappuccino is one of my standard drinks. I prefer to prepare it with oat milk to. I make one on a hot day Cold Brew Cappuccino, but I use classic whole milk for this. From time to time I also add a dash of flavored syrup – it’s like coffee and dessert in one.

3. Americano, lungo, cafe crema

Do you know the difference between an Americano, a Lungo and a Café Crema? Until recently, all three were simply a classic “extended” for me as an Austrian. However, I was taught better and will explain the differences between these three coffee specialties to you directly.

as Americano you could a strained espresso describe. It contains the same amount of acid and caffeine as an espresso, but with the addition of hot water. A lungs contains the twice the amount of water of an espresso – it can also be called a long espresso, which is known for its rather strong taste. A Cafe Crema on the other hand, is the counterpart to the classic filter coffee and is characterized by its crema. Light roasts are also used here in the preparation – for a particularly mild and aromatic taste.

Depending on which one long coffee you would like to drink, the Z10 from JURA has it all!

4. Latte Macchiato

latte macchiato becomes stylish in the glass served. I also prefer to drink this coffee specialty in a glass at home – it tastes better that way! A good milk froth is the be-all and end-all when it comes to serving the perfect latte macchiato.

Did you know that he translates spotted milk means? This is because there can be three layers in a latte macchiato. I observed this process when our JURA z10 coffee machine prepared a latte macchiato at the push of a button. First the milk or the frothed milk goes into the glass, followed by a short pause, which is then interrupted by a slowly flowing espresso. The different temperatures of the individual components and the different consistencies (frothy milk, liquid espresso) ultimately create different layers that characterize the latte macchiato.

By the way: The addition extra shot With the coffee specialties from JURA, the coffee aroma in milk specialties is to be improved even further. The extra shot function is only available with the extended milk specialties latte macchiato, cappuccino, milk coffee and flat white and is set in such a way that the machine grinds in 2 processes and prepares half of the set quantity in each case.

5.Flat White

Let’s get to point 5 of my favorite coffee specialties that I would like to introduce to you today. The modern flat white I actually only got to know about our fully automatic coffee machines. Flat White is a trend drink from Australia, which is served in a normal cappuccino cup.

The Flat White is almost an inverted cappuccino. Because the coffee runs into the glass first and then the milk froth, a brown milk froth cap is created because the milk froth goes under the coffee crema. The basis of a Flat White is a coffee with about 60 ml, plus one part milk and one part milk froth.

Of the Cold Brew Flat White I also like it very much. Anyway, I find it amazing that it is possible to implement the complex cold brew process at the push of a button. The JURA Z10 makes it possible!

6. Cortado

Last but not least, there is one more thing Cortado into my favorite coffee specialties. You may be wondering what exactly a Cortado is? In short: This is a classic Espresso with a dash of frothed milk. At first glance it may remind you of an espresso macchiato, but there are also differences in the consistency and quantity of the milk froth.

A cortado is like a latte macchiato served in a glass. If you want to draw a direct comparison to cappuccino and latte macchiato because of the milk froth, the Cortado would come off rather poorly. With a cortado, significantly less milk is added to the espresso. This inevitably leads to a more intense coffee taste, which means that choosing the right bean plays a very important role. I like it particularly well with the premium espresso beans from JURA.
